FALSE IRS EMAIL ALERT
Many people are concerned about emails they have been receiving purporting to be from the IRS. These emails indicate that you can receive a refund from the IRS if you click on the link and enter your Social Security Number. DO NOT CLICK THIS LINK! This is a scam called "Phishing", wherein criminals try to obtain private information by creating emails and even websites that look authentic, requesting that you enter account numbers, PINs, SSNs, or other information. This information can then be used for fraudulent purposes, including identity theft.
You may have received similar emails from banks, credit unions, even E-Bay or Amazon.com. The email senders are blanketing the country in a matter of seconds, and even if a small percentage respond they are able to steal millions of dollars. If you receive any emails from an institution that you are affiliated with, please be aware that they will NEVER request any personal or account related information via email. If you have any questions about an email you may have received, contact the institution directly rather than responding to an email.
Please feel free to call us if you have any questions.
